Welcome to Eastern Elementary School

Home of the Stars!

Eastern Elementary School is one of 11 elementary schools located within the Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) district. Located at the base of Old Mission Peninsula, it is conveniently located near downtown Traverse City.

Best described by Eastern parent Jen Dutmers, Eastern Elementary School fosters a culture of connectedness, compassion, and service. The school’s strong ties to the Traverse City community stem from a staff, student body and family base that supports one another and believes in developing character and responsible behavior.

Eastern's Heroes in the Community program earns high praise each year and offers all preschool through fifth grade students a unique opportunity to learn the importance of community through service learning.

As a neighborhood school, Eastern families enjoy high participation in chaperoned bike trains which allow students to walk and bike safely to and from school. The school's close proximity to Traverse City Central High School provides students the ability to enjoy events put on at the high school including plays, musical performances and robotics events. High school students can often be found volunteering in Eastern's classrooms; providing extra role models for the elementary students.

Parents have plenty of opportunities to volunteer at Eastern Elementary School. The school's very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has over 20 committees for parents to join. Stop by and learn more about Eastern, and see why the staff, students and families are so proud to be Eastern Stars!
